Kukirin G2 Electric Scooter Review: A Lightweight Commuter with Surprising Performance

Introduction

What’s up, electric legends? Today, we’re revisiting the Kukirin G2 electric scooter, and let me just say—this thing has put a huge smile on my face. While our channel primarily focuses on eskate and PEVs, this scooter has been an absolute joy to ride. Its lightweight designshock spring suspension, and decent power make it a fantastic option for commuters and casual riders alike.

So, let’s dive into the specs and see why the Kukirin G2 has been such a fun ride over the past few weeks.

Suspension & Ride Quality

One of the standout features of the G2 is its front and rear suspension system. It offers adjustable rebound, allowing you to fine-tune it based on your weight and riding style. Surprisingly, I didn’t need to make any adjustments—it worked perfectly for my 220 lb frame right out of the box.

The suspension makes bunny-hopping curbs, off-roading, and general cruising smooth and enjoyable. Whether you're hitting city streets or light trails, the G2 handles it with ease.

Design & Aesthetics

The Kukirin G2 takes design cues from the G4 series (which I’ve reviewed before—check the link in the description). It features a sleek gray and orange color scheme with an industrial yet stylish finish. The build quality feels solid, and the overall look is clean and modern.

Power & Performance

The G2 is equipped with an 800W rear hub motor and 10-inch tubeless tires (front and rear). At 220 lbs, I was able to hit a top speed of 27 mph, though it takes a bit to get there.

Off-Road Capability?

While the G2 can handle light off-roading, it’s not a powerhouse in this department. During testing, I had to keep it in Race Mode (full throttle) to navigate dirt trails, and it struggled slightly on inclines. That said, for a commuter scooter, it performs admirably on mixed terrain.

Deck & Comfort

The standing platform is long and wide enough for comfortable riding, though taller riders (like me at 6’0” with size 11 feet) might find the rear footrest a bit cramped. Still, the lightweight design (57 lbs) and suspension system make up for it, ensuring a smooth ride even at higher speeds.

Braking & Safety

Safety is key, especially when hitting 27 mph. The G2 comes with dual mechanical disc brakes (front and rear), providing strong, reliable stopping power. In my tests, I could stop within 10-15 feet from full speed—a crucial feature for urban commuting.

Display & Controls

The G2 features the same touchscreen instrument cluster found on the G3 and G4 models. It displays:

  • Speed modes (Eco, Sport, Race)

  • Battery level & range

  • Odometer & trip data

  • Light controls

This is a nice upgrade over basic LED screens, offering better visibility and functionality.

Battery & Range

Kukirin claims 34 miles of range on the 48V 15Ah battery, but real-world results vary. At 220 lbs in Race Mode, I got about 26 miles per charge—still solid for a commuter scooter.

Charging Time?

The included charger takes 8-9 hours for a full charge, so plugging it in overnight is the way to go.

Final Verdict: Who Should Buy the Kukirin G2?

The Kukirin G2 is a fantastic lightweight scooter that outshines even its more expensive predecessor, the G3, thanks to its suspension system. Here’s why I love it:
✅ Lightweight (57 lbs) & portable
✅ Smooth suspension for a comfy ride
✅ Great for urban commuting & light off-roading
✅ Affordable price (€599, with discounts available)

If you’re looking for a fun, reliable, and budget-friendly electric scooter, the G2 is a winner.
